Spirometry
Spirometry is provided by RANA's Educational Clinics to help your physician monitor the condition of your lungs. It reveals any swelling, damage or spasms in your airways.
Spirometry is a simple breathing test used to screen for and diagnose lung disorders such as asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema or pulmonary fibrosis. It is also used to monitor the effects of smoking and inhaled medications on your lungs.
What to Expect
The test requires you to breathe in fully, seal your lips around the spirometer's mouthpiece and immediately blow out as fast as you can until your lungs are empty.
Each test takes 30-60 seconds. You will be asked to repeat the test until three acceptable results are obtained.
